Abstract
Influence of testosterone and prostaglandin Fza on tissue mast cells in the female albino rat was compared with control group. One hundred oophorectomized female albino rats were treated with testosterone, prostaglandin F.,a and testosterone combined with prostaglandin Fza
The following results of mast cell changes were obtained in the uterus, skin and mesentery.
1. The number of mast cells in the uterine tissue was increased by prostaglandin Fla injection but no marked cell changes were observed as compared with control group.
2. In testosterone treated group, the number of mast cells in the uterine tissue was decreased but there was no significant changes.
3. The number of mast cells after the combined injection of prostaglandin Fla and testosterone was increased.
4. The number of mast cells in the skin tissue after the injection of prostaglandin FZa was significantly increased especially on day Ist and 4th.
5. The number of mast cells in the skin tissue after the injection of testosterone was decreased from day 2nd through day 5th.
6. After the combined injection of prostaglandin F.,a and testosterone, the numbe of mast cells in the skin tissue was decreased in general and significant decreased was noticed on day 4th.
7. In the mesentery tissue, the number of mast cells was incereased after injection of prostaglandin Fza from day 2nd through day 3rd and 5th.
8. The number of mast cells in the mesentery after injection of testosterone was significantly decreased on day Ist. but it was increased thereafter especially on day 3rd.
9. After the combined injection of testosterone and prostaglandin FZa, the number of mast cells in the mesentery was increased from day 2nd through day 5th.
